Alma L. Mathes was born on February 5, 1928 at Marble Creek, Missouri the daughter of Ester and Ollie (Reed) Miller and passed away on May 9, 2012 at Stockhoff Nursing Home at the age of 84 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, two brothers Owen Miller and Noah Miller, and one son Curtis Wayne Mathes. Alma was united in marriage to Alvin Mathes on August 24, 1945 in Ironton, Missouri. Alma is survived by her husband Alvin; one son Steve (Melody) Mathes of Jackson; one daughter Brenda Gaston of Fredericktown; six (6) brothers Alfred (Carol) Miller, James (Ellen) Miller, Earnest (Jewell) Miller all of Marble Creek, Russell (Landra) Miller of Viburnum, Melvin Miller of Caledonia and Gale (Jane) Miller of Yount; two (2) sisters Rheta (Bob) Townsend of St. Louis and Dorothy (Charles) Brotherton of Wappapello. Also three (3) grandchildren Laurie (Mark) Whaley, Travis (Joanna) Mathes, and Andrew Mathes and three (3) great grandchildren Maggie Mae Mathes, Lane Mathes, and Lydia Whaley. Alma was a member of the Big Creek Baptist Church and enjoyed sewing, being a homemaker, and gardener.
