Donald L. Bennett was born on January 30, 1937 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri and passed away on April 9, 2018 at the age of 81 years and two months.
Don lived in Marquand, Missouri in his early years before moving to Fredericktown, Missouri with his parents William "Chris" Bennett and Lola Mae (Braswell) Bennett who both preceded him in death. Also preceding him are siblings Audrey (Paul) Besher, Basil (Byrdine) Bennett, Loy A. (Vera) Bennett, Pearl D. (Earl) Elliott, niece Beverly Bennett Rehkop, and nephew The Honorable Jack A. Bennett.
Don spent his working career in the printing and publishing business. He worked as quality manager on Life Magazine for ten years in Chicago at the R.R. Donnelly Plant. He became quality manager for Petersen Publishing Company who published a stable of magazines which were Hot Rod, Car Craft, Motor Trend, Teen, Guns & Ammo, Potographic, 4 Wheel & Off Road, Hunting, Sport, Drag Racing, Sport Truck, Skin Diver, Circle Track, and Hand Guns.
Don retired from Petersen Publishing in 1994 and moved to Farmington, Missouri near his farm and cattle. Don served in the U.S. Army from 1960 to 1962.
He is survived by his wife Carolyn A. (Crabtree) Bennett whom he was married to for 57 years, as well as two (2) nephews Jim and John Bennett. Two (2) nieces Laura "Lolly" Outman and Birdie Pelch. Fifteen (15) great nieces and nephews, and twenty-three (23) great-great nieces and nephews, and a host of friends. Don was also a member of Calvary Church in Fredericktown, Missouri.
