Dwayne Barton
Gipson
September 15, 1952 – March 6, 2024
Dwayne Barton Gipson, age 71, of Marquand, Mo passed away March 6th, 2024, at his home in Buckhorn.
Dwayne was born on September 15, 1952, and enjoyed his life to the fullest. He was the definition of a faithful
follower of Christ and was a constant encourager to his family, church, and friends. He was truly a model husband,
father, and friend. Dwayne was bold for Christ, became instant friends and witnessed to everyone he met. He
started his own logging business and sawmill corporation while only still a teenager. He loved all things farming,
sawmilling and logging. On September 25, 1970, Dwayne married the love of his life, Sally Hinkle. Together they
built the family farm & grew their sawmill business all while raising a family. When they said forever, they really
meant it. They also formed the gospel singing group, called "The Gipson's", which is still alive today and will
continue for generations to come.
Dwayne was the epitome of a servant. He served God, he served others, and he served his country for years, in the
1140th Engineering Battalion of the National Guard. In addition to his desire to serve, Dwayne will always be
remembered for his strong desire to give. He absolutely loved to give. He lived by the words of Jesus "it is more
blessed to give than to receive". He always gave more than he took. Giving his time, eWort, and funds to various
churches, good causes, and people in time of need. He had a lot of "give" in him and gave of himself in too many
ways to list or count.
He was a devout member of Buckhorn Baptist church for 60+ years and served as a deacon for 40+ years.
When Dwayne wasn't working, you would find him serving in some capacity. He could usually be found in church
teaching Sunday school, or in various churches across the country singing and playing music with his family. He
was full of devotion and took pride in everything he did. He loved to work, cook, hunt mushrooms, tap trees, pick
blackberries, serve, entertain, sing, & play music with a God-given talent to play pretty much any instrument he
could get his hands on. He spent lots of time on his bulldozer, and in the woods where he dearly loved to be. He
was a gifted "fixer", often fixing and making things even better than they were in their original state.
He always had kids and grandkids attached to his hip when doing all the things he loved to do, utilizing every
opportunity to teach and train them up in the way they should go, and he loved every minute of it.
He fought hard, worked hard, prayed hard, and loved even harder.
Life is but a vapor, and we take comfort in the hope of Jesus that we will, without a doubt, meet again! He is not
gone, he is home.
Dwayne is preceded in death by his father Raymond Gipson, his mother, Lola (Irvin) Gipson, and infant brother,
James Ray Gipson. He is survived by his wife, Sally (Hinkle) Gipson, 3 children, Lucinda (Cindy) Gipson, Bradley
Gipson (Tara Gipson), Julie (Gipson) Boswell (Ryan Boswell), 14 grandchildren, Sierra Gipson, Bailey Bearden,
