John E. "Johnny" Lewis was born on August 7, 1933 at Fredericktown the son of Lloyd and Vesta (Kemp) Lewis and passed away on May 18, 2012 at the Claru Deville Nursing Home at the age of 78 years. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, his first wife Nadine (Statler) Lewis, brothers George Lewis, Bill Don Lewis, Michael Lewis, Thomas Lewis, and Enroy (Buddy) Lewis. Johnny was united in marriage to Betty Banes on April 17, 2003 in Fredericktown. He is survived by his wife Betty, two (2) stepsons Eddie Banes of Fredericktown and Ron Banes of Sunset Hills, Missouri, two (2) stepdaughters Christy Mattingly of Fredericktown, and Kimberly Williams of Jackson, Missouri, three (3) sisters Martha Kennedy of Fredericktown, Mary Heathscott of Kensett, Arkansas, and Jody Nehus of Paris, Arkansas. Also four (4) grandchildren and five (5) great grandchildren. Johnny was of the Baptist faith and enjoyed woodworking and furniture making. He also received the Good Conduct Medal and the Marksman Medal for the rifle while serving in the United States Army.
