Kathryn "Kay"
Huffman
December 20, 1934 – November 30, 2024
Kathryn "Kay" Huffman, born on December 20, 1934, in Kirkwood, Missouri, passed away peacefully on November 30, 2024, at the beloved family farm in Fredericktown, Missouri, at the age of 89. She was the cherished daughter of Chester and June (Hubbard) Rex.
Kay was preceded in death by her devoted husband, Ralph "R.E." Huffman, her parents, her brother, Ronald Rex, and her grandson, Will Waldheuser IV.
She leaves behind a loving family, including her daughter, Cherri Huffman Newbury, her son, Craig Huffman, five grandchildren—Michael Waldheuser, Jessica Armbruster, Taylor Huffman, Jacob Huffman, and Tara Steinmeyer—and ten great-grandchildren: Will, Benjamin, Phoenix, Ayden, Casey, Skylynn, Adelynn, Warren, Viola, and Jaxson.
A woman of Christian faith, Kay was a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution (D.A.R.). She graduated from the University of Missouri in 1956, where she was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority in Columbia, Missouri.
Her career began at Illinois Power as a Product Demonstrator for one of the first RadaRange Microwave Ovens. She later became the Director of Profit Sharing at Famous-Barr (Macy's), retiring in 1995.
In her retirement, Kay and Ralph split their time between Raymondville, Texas, and Fredericktown.
Kay was known for her love of family gatherings, genealogy research, fishing, traveling, and road trips. She enjoyed watching football, painting "trees", and was fond of casino slots and card games, often "cheating" playfully with family.
Her vibrant sense of humor and storytelling made her the heart of family gatherings. Kay's laughter and joy will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Mom will be laid to rest on Tuesday Dec. 10th, 2024 at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery. Reunited in Love with Dad.
