Kenneth Grant Basden, beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on July 4, 2026, at Barnes Hospital in St. Louis. Born November 19, 1943, in St. Louis, Kenneth’s life was marked by devotion to family, strength of character, and enduring kindness.
Kenneth was the son of Jeff and Bessie (Urban) Basden, who preceded him in death and whose legacies he honored throughout his life.
Throughout his 82 years, Kenneth found his greatest joy in the close bonds he shared with his family. He is survived by his devoted wife, Nancy (Underwood) Basden. Together, they raised their sons—Jason (Cindy) Basden, Kenneth (Angie) Basden, and Cory (Hazel) Basden—instilling in them the values of integrity, compassion, and responsibility. Kenneth also leaves behind his supportive daughters-in-law, Cindy, Angie, and Hazel Basden, who became treasured members of his family.
His pride as a grandparent was evident in all he did, and his memory will be carried on through his grandchildren, Clara and Grant Basden. His grandson Brenden Basden passed before him, a loss that left a mark upon Kenneth’s heart.
Kenneth touched the lives of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing. His presence brought comfort and encouragement to family, friends, and all who crossed his path.
Kenneth taught at Greenville School District for 3 years, then he retired from Fredericktown School District in 1999 after teaching there for 25 years. After retirement he drove cars for Barret-Jensen, he was a videographer and worked at Parks and Recreation in Farmington, MO. His most special interests were his family, gardening and baking cookies for his grandkids.
Kenneth was of the Methodist faith.
A visitation in Kenneth’s memory will be held from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, July 9, 2026, at Follis & Sons Chapel, 700 Plaza Dr., Fredericktown, MO.
