Leota often said that she was glad that at an early age she knew what she wanted to do in the future, glad she went to college and received a BS in Education degree, glad she became a teacher, glad she waited until she was 26 before she got married, glad she ran for Mayor of Fredericktown and won, glad she was a tour guide for International Exchange school and took five trips to Europe, glad that she never liked liquor or wanted to smoke, glad that she was President of Madison County Seniors and helped build a new 150,000 Senior Center. Leota said I look back on my life and give thanks for the wonderful life that I've had. I'm very fortunate to have had loving parents, a happy childhood, two special sisters, a very good husband, 2 beautiful daughters and 3 adorable grandchildren. I hope when I am gone people will remember me as a good person as well as, a knowledgeable and intelligent person who did what I could to leave my mark and to be remembered as a person who did what I could do to leave the world a better place. I've enjoyed teaching, my church and being a part of the political system. I have been blessed.
