Loma Skaggs, a devoted homemaker and compassionate nurse aide, passed away peacefully at her home in Springfield, Missouri, on May 3, 2026. Born on March 17, 1935, Loma lived a life marked by sweetness, generosity, and an enduring love for those around her.
Throughout her life, Loma was known for her warm and caring nature. She dedicated ten years of her career as a nurse aide at Farmington Hospital, where her kindness and attentive care touched many lives. Beyond her professional work, she was a loving homemaker who devoted herself fully to her family and community.
Loma’s love extended far beyond her own household; as a foster mother, she opened her heart and home to fourteen children, providing them with care and stability. Her gentle spirit and nurturing presence left an indelible mark on each child she guided.
Her passions included attending church services at Mine La Motte Free Will Baptist Church, where her faith was a cornerstone of her life. She also enjoyed embroidery and bird watching, pastimes that reflected her patient and meticulous nature.
She is survived by her loving children: Tommy Smith, Christine Warner, and Paulette Tidwell. She also leaves behind her son-in-law, Wayne Warner; her brother, Pete Wright; sisters Opal Bryant, Sybil Lynn, and Mabel Westmorelan; grandchildren Kathy Dillon, Brenda Wood, Jacob Tidwell, Nathan Tidwell, and Caleb Warner; as well as seven great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren. These family members will carry forward her legacy of love and kindness.
Loma was preceded in death by her parents, Theador and Margaret Wright; her husband, Harold Skaggs; daughters Holly Jean Skaggs and Linda Henderson; son Phillip Wm. Skaggs, granddaughter Jennifer Warner; sister Elizabet Buehner; and sisters Sally Pense and Kaye Spence. She also mourns the loss of great-granddaughter Anna Cole.
Visitation will be held on May 5, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Follis & Sons Chapel, located at 700 Plaza Dr., Fredericktown, MO 63645. The funeral service will follow on May 6, 2026, beginning at 1:00 p.m. at the same location, concluding at 2:00 p.m.
