Lula Mae LaPlant was born on March 2, 1930 at Claypool, Arizona the daughter of Saba and Leona Fay (Turner) Halby and passed away on January 1, 2016 at her residence in Fredericktown at the age of 85 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Rex Thornley who passed away in 2005, one son Rex Thornley who passed away in 2008 in Vietnam, and two brothers Michael Halby who passed away in 2008 and Donnie Halby. She is survived by her daughter Charlene "Sherry" Welch-Sunyich of Fredericktown, two grandchildren Tammy Renée Welch and James Larry Welch, five great grandchildren Josh, Tasha, Jake, Jake, and Connor. Lula was of the Catholic faith and enjoyed farming, yardwork, singing, dancing, playing guitar, sewing, and puzzles. She was also a wonderful loving mother and grandmother.
