Obituary

Marietta (Potter) Bone of Fredericktown, Missouri, passed away on November 2, 2024, at Farmington Presbyterian Manor at the age of 77. She was born on October 7, 1947, in St. Louis, Missouri, the daughter of the late Jewell and (Kathy) Potter and Gertrude Brown. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Julie Austin, two grandchildren, James and Hunter Britton, and two brothers, David and Steven Potter.

Marietta graduated from Ritenour High School St Louis, Missouri where she participated in the band playing the Chello and Theatre.  She then went on to attend the Grand Rapids School of Bible and Music College in Grand Rapids, Michigan.  Marietta spent many years in the ministry as a missionary.  After leaving the mission field she worked as a Medical Technician at the Baptist Home in Arcadia Valley.  Marietta spent over 20 years at Wal-Mart in Fredericktown and 10 years at New Era Bank in Fredericktown where she loved serving and brightening the days of everyone she met in the community. She also served for many years in the church and was a faithful member at New Providence United Baptist Church and, most recently, Twin Oaks Freewill Baptist Church. Her passion in life was sharing the Good News of the Gospel with children and adults and spending time with family and friends.  Marietta also enjoyed a clown ministry where she spent many years providing opportunities for all to hear the word by sharing the gospel.

Marrietta enjoyed crocheting, quilting, going to the beach, playing sports and games.  Marietta loved Jesus, serving at church, church camps, her family, her country, our Service Members, her friends, and the Fredericktown community where she was a true blessing to all.

She is survived by her two sons, Jamie (Kimberly) Britton of Panama City, Florida, and Joel (Kim) Britton of Panama City, Florida.  Granddaughter Ashly (Kyle) Jones of Park Hills, Missouri, eight additional grandchildren James (Beth Ann) Mintner of Rome, New York; Elijah Britton of Hopkinsville, Kentucky; Maggie (Zach) Brown of Jacksonville, Florida; Lydia and Micaiah Britton of Panama City, Florida; Braylon and Addison Britton of Panama City, Florida; and two great-grandchildren Scarlett and Margaret Mintner of Rome, New York; Sister Pam (Steve) Fox of Ponderay, Idaho; Brother Mark Potter of Sandpoint, Idaho; Step-brother Micheal (Jackie) Dunivan of Nevada, Missouri and numerous relatives and friends also survive.

Visitation will be at Follis and Sons Funeral Home in Fredericktown, Missouri, on Friday, November 8, 2024, from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM, followed by the funeral service on November 9, 2024, at 10:00 AM. The burial service will be at Twin Oaks Freewill Baptist Cemetery in Fredericktown, Missouri.
