Nina E. (Smallen) Thomas was born on August 11, 1919 in Madison County, Missouri the daughter of William Grover and Nellie May (Pogue) Smallen Sr. and passed away on September 10, 2013 at the Ozark Manor in Fredericktown at the age of 94 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Roy Vernon Thomas whom she was united in marriage to on June 6, 1936 at Fredericktown, one daughter Joyce Yevonne (Thomas) Welch, three brothers Gale Smallen, William G. Smallen Jr., and Truman Smallen, and one sister Norma (Smallen) DeByle. She is survived by three (3) sons Don Roy Thomas of Decatur, Illinois, Harvey Lee Thomas of Charleston, Illinois, and William E. Thomas of Fredericktown, three daughters Frances May (Thomas) Cavanaugh of Guy, Arkansas, Kim Elizabeth (Thomas) Knierim of Effingham, Illinois, and Mary Eileen (Thomas) Cheatwood of Mt. Morris, Illinois. Also fourteen grandchildren and 35 great grandchildren. She was a member of Church of God Faith of Abraham in Fredericktown and the Order of the Eastern Star. She also enjoyed reading.
