Raleigh Almer Peyton was born on October 8, 1933 at Plain Dealing, Louisiana the son of Raiford Almer and Iva (Fletcher) Peyton and passed away on October 21, 2013 at Des Peres Hospital in St. Louis at the age of 80 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Iva Ray Stauffer, and one step-grandson Adam Long. Raleigh was united in marriage to Patricia Archambo on May 26, 1984 at Fredericktown. He is survived by his wife Patricia of Fredericktown, three sons Michael Peyton, Raleigh A. "Chip" (Janice) Peyton Jr. of Juneau, Alaska, and Lance Raiford (Thoal) Peyton of Houston, Texas; two daughters Nepha "Leigh" (Steve) Foster of Hull, Georgia and Sarah E. Woods of Nashville, Tennessee; five step-sons Jim (Julie) Long, Ron (Kim) Long, Bill (Amy) Long, Bob Long, and Steven M. (Susan) Taylor D.O.; two step-daughters Mary (Earl) Jones and Connie (Robert) Crowell; twenty-three grandchildren, three great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. Raleigh was of the Baptist faith and served in the United States Army. He enjoyed spending time with his dog Rosco, going to the Elks Lodge, watching NASCAR, and travelling.
