Rev. Clyde E. Bess Sr. was born on April 18, 1937, at Fredericktown, MO, the son of Willis and Iva (Wagganer) Bess, and passed away on October 5, 2026, at Mercy Jefferson at the age of 89.

Clyde was preceded in death by his parents, wife Margaretta (Francis) Bess, who he married May 26, 1955 in St. Louis, MO, a son Clyde E. Bess, Jr., brothers John Bess and Paul Bess, and sisters Marie Bacon and Lucille Biggs.

Clyde is survived by his grandson Chad (Kelly) Bess, granddaughter Chastidy Smith, and daughter-in-law Linda Bess, six great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Clyde started preaching the Gospel at the age of 19 and preached until the age of 89, he was a prayer warrior and visited many who resided in nursing homes, he loved eating out and visiting and going for a car ride.  When weather would accommodate you could usually find him sitting on his front porch waving at all who passed.
