Robert D. "Bob" Smith was born on April 6, 1937 at Yale, Oklahoma the son of Ira Smith and Earl and Lori Mae (Guffey) Cobble and passed away on October 11, 2015 at his home in Fredericktown at the age of 78 years. He was preceded in death by his parents, multiple brothers and sisters, one son Robert A. Smith, and a grandson Cory N. Smith. He is survived by his wife, Shirley (Robinson) Smith whom he was united in marriage to on August 30, 1996 at Metropolis, Illinois, three sons Michael L. Smith of Marquand, Missouri, Dennis E. Smith of Union City, Indiana, Dwayne L. Smith of Roanoke, Virginia, one step-son Ryan Gerler of Pasadena, Maryland, two step-daughters Jackie Perez of St. Louis, Missouri and Lisa Hogner of Houston, Texas, one brother Dudley Cobble of Sapulpa, Oklahoma, fourteen grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren. Bob served in the United States Air Force and enjoyed fishing and farming.
