Sandra Lee (Thompson) Downs

Sandra Lee Downs was born on September 19, 1944 in Alexandria, Virginia.  Sandy was the daughter of A.W. "Stubby" Thompson and Lela Fetter Thompson.  She departed this life on July 18, 2025. Sandy was preceded in death by the love of her life, Donald G. Downs, her parents, grandparents, aunts, and uncles.

Sandy is survived by her daughter, Tracey (Tim) Lober and grandson, Matthew (Allison) Lober.

Sandy graduated from Fredericktown High School in 1962 and was a member of the Beta Club, as well as numerous other clubs, and was Yearbook Editor her senior year. After graduation she attended IBM School in Springfield, Missouri and joined the drafting department of Southwestern Bell Telephone Company in St. Louis until staying home to care for her daughters. Sandy then joined the medical field in various capacities.

Sandy and Don lived in Tempe, Arizona for over 20 years and at that time worked in the Behavioral Health field for Jewish Family & Children's Service in Phoenix, Arizona.  Sandy retired from JFCS in 2010, and she and Don moved back to Farmington, Missouri to be near their family.

Sandy was an avid golfer, a member of the Fredericktown County Club, and played in many tournaments with her future sister-in-law, the late Sandy Inman.

Sandy loved to cook and decorate.

Sandy was baptized and a member of the Fredericktown Methodist Church.  Services will be private and at a later date. If you would like to reach out to her daughter, Tracey, her email address is traceylober@yahoo.com.
