Obituary

Shirley Ann Link (Jones) of Fredericktown, MO was born on October 28, 1940 in Knob Lick, MO. The doctor did not arrive in time so she was delivered by her Grandma Jones, who then told the doctor when he did arrive… "she is old enough to be laughing at you." Shirley passed from this life into eternity with family surrounding her on June 30, 2018 at 2:30 PM at the age of 77 at Stockhoff Memorial Nursing Home.

Her parents were Cole Augustine Jones known as "Tat" and Grace Mahela (Wells) Jones. Her brothers were John Charles Jones, Linus Randy Jones and her sister was Jeanetta Jones Dickey. All of who preceded her in death.

She married Ivan Leo Link Jr of Fredericktown, MO on July 12, 1958 to whom 3 children were born.

Lewis Cole Link of House Springs, MO, Lance Craig Link of Lebanon, MO and Sherial Lynn Link of Fredericktown, MO.

Her son-in-law is Francisco Valencia of Fredericktown, MO and daughter-in-law is Becky Link of Lebanon, MO.

Shirley loved her 9 Grandchildren. Antonia Valencia Burks, Rachel Link Starnes, Kyle Link, Eli Valencia, Ezra Valencia, Benjamin Link, Jana Valencia Kunz, Aaron Link and John Link.

Her 6 great-grandchildren are Asa Burks, Madelyn Link, Anora Burks, Hudson Link, Aleric Burks and Audrey Burks.

Shirley became a believer at Mount Pisgah Southern Baptist Church in 1952 during a revival and was baptized in the creek that ran by the church. While raising her family, they attended and were members of Second Baptist Church in Fredericktown and later in life she attended Calvary Temple in Fredericktown.

Places Shirley lived during her life were Knob Lick, Zion, Mount Pisgah, Wichita, KS, Nashville, IN and Fredericktown. She worked as a waitress in high school, attended beauty school at Molar College in St. Louis, worked in housekeeping and also was head cook at Madison Memorial Hospital, helped her sister run a meat shop in Nashville, IN, and worked 17 years in the embroidery department of Cap America.

Shirley was an amazing cook, loved to embroidery and made you feel welcome and at home when you visited her. She was a good conversationalist and fun to travel with. She looked for the positive side of life, liked to analyze situations and people, was a good listener, gave advice wisely and she loved her dogs.

Services for Shirley will be held on Sunday, July 8, 2018 in Fredericktown, MO at Follis and Sons Funeral Home Chapel at 2 PM with visitation starting at 11:30 AM. Pallbearers are her grandsons, Kyle Link, Eli Valencia, Ezra Valencia, Benjamin Link, Aaron Link, and John Link. Shirley's burial will be at the Knob Lick Cemetery, Knob Lick, MO.
