February 29, 1932 – April 30, 2020
W.R. Singleton of Fredericktown, passed away on April 30, 2020 at Wabash Christian Village in Carmi, Illinois at the age of 88 years. He was born on February 29, 1932 in Kennett, Missouri to William Wiley and Melvina Singleton who both preceded him in death. On November 26, 1960 he married Jo Ann Harris in Senath, Missouri. They had been married 46 years at the time of her passing in 2007.
He was also preceded in death by one brother J.C. Singleton and two sisters Gladys (Vitgil) Lewis and Minnie (Maurice) Prance. survivors include: one daughter, Catherine Ann Singleton of Fairfield, Illinois and one son john and wife Gayla Singleton, two grandchildren Trevor Singleton and Leah Singleton of Fredericktown, sister-in-law Lillian Singleton of Bloomfield and many beloved nieces and nephews.
W.R. was a dedicated menber and deacon at the First Baptist Church in Fredericktown. he was devoted to his church, his family and public education, having served as a teacher and administrator form more than 30 years. He was honorary discharged in 1956 from the U.S. Army as a 1st Lieutenant. W.R. and Jo Ann enjoyed spending time with their extended family and friends. They also enjoyed travelling, and were able to visit all 50 states. W.R. also enjoyed watching the St. Louis Cardinals and having lunch at the Madison County Senior Center.
A private graveside service was held in Kennett, Missouri with the Reverend Tom Johnson officiating. The family is planning a celebration of life service to be held in the coming months. In lieu of flower, memorials may be made to the First Baptist Church of Fredericktown or the Madison County Senior Center.
