Wretha May Huggins 94, of Fredericktown, MO passed away on June 23, 2026 at Stockoff Nursing Center, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on May 23,1932 to Joe and Carrie (Hood) Hancock, in Hiram, MO, Wretha made her home in Fredericktown. She was a woman whose kindness, faith and love for family touched everyone who knew her.
in 1957 she married the love of her life Johnny Henry Huggins and to this union two children were born, Rita McGhee and Doyle (Doris) Huggins.
Proceeding her in death in her Husband Johnny, Son Doyle, Brothers Norman Hancock, Bill Hancock, and Robert Hancock and Sisters Lou Verne Summers, Glenda Hancock and Doreen (Dodie) Allen.
Survivors include her daughter Rita McGhee and friend Rita McGhee and friend Chris O'Brien of Browning, MO, sister Nelda Matkin of Fredericktown, brothers Henry (Whiz) Hancock of Greenville, MO, Jerry Hancock and his wife Karen of Clubb, MO, many nieces and nephews who will all miss her greatly.
She is also survived by her special daughter in heart and best friend Ginger Simpson. Ginger stood by Wretha and took care of her daily for 18 years. She always went above and beyond for her and for that all of the rest of her family are grateful for.
Wretha had a heart that loved her children more than life itself and that heart also overflowed to all those who knew her.
Wretha lived life to the fullest, but above all she loved God. A devoted Baptist, she placed her faith and trust in Jesus Christ as her Savior. Despite her limited vision she found joy and comfort in listening to her beloved King James Version talking Bible.
She loved music and signing and once in a while she delighted those around her with a song with the sweetest voice.
Her love of fellowship extended throughout her community, where she formed many treasured friendships, one being Judy who she treasured and loved so much. She enjoyed gathering with neighbors in her apartment complex and even getting together in the common room for a party or to play Bingo.
Wretha will be remembered for her warm smile, generous spirit, and a deep love for family and friends. Her legacy of kindness and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know her.
